VOA's team in Louisville was joined several community partners for Pickleball 4 Others, an event that brought people together to support veterans, families, and neighbors in need. Thank you to everyone who played, volunteered, and helped make a difference.

Humana's Risk Adjustment Operations Team spent the day volunteering at one of VOA's family-focused recovery programs in Louisville. The team helped by organizing our infant care room closet and playroom to sorting school uniforms, helping with cleaning, and preparing lunch.

VOA's Supportive Services staff participated in two events during Baton Rouge Pride -- Metro Health's "Testing Day" and the annual Pride Fest at the Raising Cane's River Center. We appreciate all those who showed up and showed off all the services that VOA has for the queer community.

Volunteers from BMO spent a day at Hope Manor II/Hope Manor Village to tackle a wide range of beautification efforts on the property. Their work included painting stairways and the security room, power washing outdoor areas, installing pavers, spreading mulch, removing weeds, and cleaning windows and doors. Through their generosity and hands-on service, they helped refresh and enhance our property, creating a more welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Residents at Hialeah Residence Apartments recently participated in a special music therapy event sponsored and facilitated by Cano Health. The interactive session provided an engaging opportunity for seniors to connect through music while enjoying activities designed to stimulate memory, encourage social interaction, and promote emotional well-being.

Volunteers from Topel Forman LLC volunteered at VOA's Hope Manor I for the second year in a row. The volunteers spent the morning organizing, cleaning, and beautifying the property before they grilled and hosted a BBQ for the veteran residents.

VOA team members helped build beds with another nonprofit, Sleep In Heavenly Peace, for children ages 3-17 who don't have a bed of their own.

VOA Dakotas' executive team spent the morning at Feeding South Dakota packing food for senior adults and families across the state.

First Methodist Church of Brewton generously hosted a Fourth of July lunch for the residents of Crepe Myrtle Village, serving burgers, fresh fruit, and other festive treats to bring the community together.

Two generous volunteers prepared and served a home-cooked barbecue lunch for the veterans and staff at Eagles Landing, creating a meaningful opportunity for fellowship and connection. VOA staff helped make the event possible by coordinating the visit and bringing the veterans together to share in the meal.

In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, residents at one of VOA's properties came together to provide much-needed relief to those affected. Thanks to the generosity of residents and community members, donations have included non-perishable food, adult diapers, gloves, gauze, sanitary pads, hydrogen peroxide, and other essential supplies.

Two VOA program directors met with a Community Affairs Officer and a Crime Prevention Officer to strengthen collaboration between VOA staff and the NYPD while fostering greater trust and engagement within the community. The meeting was highly productive, with meaningful discussions focused on communication, safety, and future partnership opportunities, laying a strong foundation for continued community-oriented collaboration.

As part of the United Way of Southwest Alabama’s Day of Caring, Trustmark volunteers joined VOA staff and participants of the Community Enrichment Center’s Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities program to refresh and expand the center’s community gardens. Together, they planted vegetables, herbs, and flowers, creating a more vibrant outdoor space while encouraging teamwork, inclusion, and meaningful community engagement.

VOA was proud to participate in the VFW Day of Service alongside Humana, CenterWell, USAA, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars to help support veterans and seniors experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. Volunteers came together in Tampa, Nashville, and San Antonio to prepare thousands of essential care and toiletry kits that will help provide comfort, dignity, and support to those in need.

At one of our veteran housing programs in Indianapolis, our staff worked with veterans in the program to collect Halloween candy for active military personnel.

VOA Upstate New York delivered more than 200 gift bags filled with flowers, cards, and small treats for its annual "I Remember Mama" celebration to residents in VOA's affordable senior housing, emergency family shelters, and other programs run by community partners. The staff at VOA's Cobblestone Place Apartments also hosted a small Mother’s Day tea, bringing together residents for an afternoon of conversation and celebration.

"I Remember Mama" honors women across generations who may be separated from loved ones or working to rebuild stability for their families, reminding them they are valued and remembered on mother's day.

In May, VOA Northern Rockies staff, clients, and families joined the Sheridan community for its annual Clean Up Day. More than a dozen staff members and their families participated, in addition to 20 patients from VOA's Life House and Gathering Place. Together, a total of 15 teams collected 700+ pounds of trash!

Our staff at VOA's Puerta Del Sol Apartments in Miami coordinated an on-site program to help residents renew their driver's licenses, state IDs, handicap parking permits, and even fishing permits -- making it easier for the older adults we serve who would have difficulty getting to the DMV. A total of 32 residents and community members were helped.

One of our service coordinators, Rebecka Brayton, who is also a volunteer firefighter in Cheyenne, helped to put out a 60-acre grass fire that threatened homes. The following weekend, her and fellow firefighters prescribed burns to the area to prevent future wildfires.

DeepWater City Elks Lodge #751 filled our freezer with 200lbs of ground beef and generously donated canned and dry goods to our programs in Pensacola.

Flywheel Data staff put together an event to fill 145 boxes with hygiene and cleaning supplies for our veteran programs in Miami.

For the fourth year, Spelman College Alumnae came to Hope Manor II and Hope Manor Village in Chicago to host an Easter Egg Hunt for the families who live at these properties. This year's event had two face painters, delicious treats for the children, the Easter bunny, and of course, hundreds of eggs for the kids to find.

Team Depot came to Hope Manor I in Chicago and worked hard to make the office spaces of the building more welcoming. Our gratitude to The Home Depot Foundation, one of VOA's long-standing partners, for supporting us and working hard to make Hope Manor I even better for the veterans who live there.

Volunteers from the DRI International Foundation supported Volunteers of America of Florida through a day of hands-on service, including landscaping, painting, and organizing at one of our programs. The day concluded with a fun and meaningful BINGO activity with residents, fostering connection and community engagement.

VOA staff attended a Habitat for Humanity build day alongside nominees of the 2026 Women Who Win Awards, helping put up walls and complete hands-on construction in support of affordable housing in the Tampa Bay community.
