Healthy communities are fueled by connection
In our 130th year, we are highlighting the service projects and volunteer events that bring communities together. Whether its connecting older adults, beautifying public areas, or hosting trainings, VOA is constantly enhancing the communities it serves.
Volunteerism isn’t just in our name — it’s in our DNA.
Girl Scout Troop 26286
VOA Illinois
About Our Project
VOA Illinois operates a Girl Scout troop out of our Hope Manor II/Hope Manor Village property in Englewood. The troop is made up of over 30 girls that are children of the veterans who live at the property and girls from the community. Each year, the girls sell cookies to help cover the costs of membership, field trips, uniforms, and experiences. This year, their goal was to sell 2,100 boxes, but their story attracted media attention and the troop was able to sell 20,000 boxes.
DRI International Foundation Volunteer Day
VOA Florida
About Our Project
Volunteers from the DRI International Foundation supported Volunteers of America of Florida through a day of hands-on service, including landscaping, painting, and organizing at one of our programs. The day concluded with a fun and meaningful BINGO activity with residents, fostering connection and community engagement.
Vets on Lacey
VOA Spokane
About Our Project
Vets on Lacey is a 12-unit, fully furnished, low-income housing community designed specifically for veterans seeking stability and a place to call home. After 8 years in the making, we broke ground in June 2025 and celebrated our open house in January 2026, this thoughtfully developed complex now offers safe, comfortable homes in a quiet neighborhood setting.
Residents benefit not only from stable housing, but also from convenient access to parks, public transportation, on-site case management, mental health support, and essential community services. Vets on Lacey reflects our deep commitment to ensuring veterans have more than shelter; they have a foundation for healing, connection, and long-term stability.

Team Depot Volunteers at Hope Manor I
VOA Illinois
About Our Project
Team Depot came to Hope Manor I in Chicago and worked hard to make the office spaces of the building more welcoming. Our gratitude to The Home Depot Foundation, one of VOA's long-standing partners, for supporting us and working hard to make Hope Manor I even better for the veterans who live there.
