WHO WE ARE

Volunteers of America Western Nebraska is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote complete physical, mental, and emotional well-being while serving children, families, and communities by providing programs to encourage self-sufficiency, increase health equity, and promote positive developmental growth to help Nebraska’s most vulnerable. Our work touches the mind, body, and spirit of those we serve, integrating our deep compassion with highly effective human service programming.

Services for Children

Volunteers of America Western Nebraska has been a leading agency in early childhood education for over 25 years and is vitally important to the public we serve. Learn more about  VOAWN’s diverse and extensive childcare service programs.

Community Closet Thrift Store

The Community Closet provides an opportunity for recycling household goods within our community, and a low-cost alternative for low-income families to purchase such goods.

Food Pantry

No one in our community should go hungry. The VOAWN’s Health & Nutrition Programs and Food Pantry Project work to combat food insecurities within the panhandle region of Western Nebraska.

Controlled Environment Agriculture

We are growing sustainable, efficient & eco-friendly food sources that are clean, safe, abundant, and affordable to meet the needs of our community.

Drug & Alcohol Prevention

The VOA Western Nebraska is committed to developing community-based healthcare solutions to address mental health and substance abuse. Our coordinated care model involves working closely with community provider-partners to address the full range of individual needs. Our long legacy of service shows that this is the best way to profoundly and permanently transform lives.

Health Promotion

Volunteers of America Western Nebraska offers memberships to our community-based fitness center at our Lewellen offices. In addition, we recently started offering yoga classes to the garden county senior care groups and elder community.

Senior Services

Volunteers of America Western Nebraska assist our elder community through exercise programming, financial and technical assistance, and general medicare information and guidance.

Utility Assistance

Utility/Rental Assistance for residents of Garden County is provided through Volunteers of America Western Nebraska with funding from Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska and the United Methodist Church of Oshkosh.
