130 Years of Resilience

130 Years. Millions of smiles.

For 130 years, Volunteers of America has provided high-quality social services to millions across the United States. World wars, economic uncertainty, and evolving social needs have shaped our work but never shaken our commitment to communities. As VOA celebrates this rich of resilience, March 8 will be observed all over the U.S. as Volunteers of America Day.

OUR WORK

130 Acts of Service

Service to others is embedded into Volunteers of America at every level. In our 130th year, we are actualizing this mission by completing 130 acts of service across the country. From refurbishing gardens to fixing playgrounds, we’re making sure the communities we serve can flourish for years to come.

OUR CHAMPIONS OF RESILIENCE

“I came to visit some friends here and immediately liked it so much, I
knew this is where I wanted to be. I liked it because everyone was so
friendly and it felt more like a home.”

– A quote from one of the champions of resilience

COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE

Help Where It Matters Most

Your support helps provide canned food, diapers, cleaning supplies and even textbooks to individuals and families around the country.

FOOD AND ESSENTIAL SERVICES

Meeting Everyday Needs with Care

Thanks to your generous support, we’re providing hot meals, school lunches, and essential services and supplies where they’re needed most.

SHELTER AND CARE

Safety, Stability, and Support

Every dollar goes right to work to meet basic needs like safe shelter and meals, and to rebuild lives through training and support.

Rooted in Resilience

Supporting and Empowering America’s Most Vulnerable Groups

Dating as far back as the aftermath of the American Civil War, VOA has empowered and advocated for veterans, at-risk youth, and families torn apart by the day-to-day struggle to obtain basic necessities and a life with dignity. The organization has grown to become one of the nation’s largest nonprofit providers of quality affordable housing, as well as long-term skilled nursing care and health services.

VOA GIVING DAY – MARCH 9

Celebrating 130 years of neighbors helping neighbors.

Since 1986, this work has continued because caring people chose to step in and make a difference. Every day, families find meals, veterans find support, and older adults find connection through Volunteers of America. Your gift helps keep carrying that care forward; today and into the future.
