Chief Operating Officer
As chief operating officer, Thomas Turnbull’s principal responsibilities include oversight of Volunteers of America’s housing and health care divisions. Turnbull joined Volunteers of America’s Texas affiliate in 1978, working in various financial roles, including chief financial officer. In 1989, he moved to the Volunteers of America national office as controller, and has subsequently held positions as associate vice president, finance; vice president, financial services; senior vice president of housing finance; and chief financial officer.
Turnbull has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin and earned his CPA in 1990, finishing first in Louisiana and among the top 100 nationally. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.
