2011 Christmas Service

Volunteers of America's 2011 National Christmas Worship Service was recently held at the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, Penn. Hosted by Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania, the event was broadcast LIVE via the Internet and you can view a recording of it as well.

Alan Garner, president and CEO of Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania, welcomed everyone to the service. Chauncy W. Smith, director of EEO Compliance for H.J. Heinz World Headquarters and a member of the Volunteers of America Southwest Pennsylvania Regional Council, gave the invocation. The Fox Chapel Area High School Choir, with Craig G. Cannon conducting, offered an inspirational performance of seasonal hymns. Volunteers of America National President Mike King gave the sermon.

In addition to being one of the nation's largest and most comprehensive human services organizations, Volunteers of America is an interdenominational church, and by streaming the Christmas service live, many of our 16,000 nationwide employees were able to be part of the service. “Viewing parties,” where groups come together to watch the service, were held across the country at Volunteers of America local offices, as well as at the national office in Alexandria, Va.
