Operation Backpack - Helping Kids Throughout the Country

It’s estimated to cost between $50 and $70 to fill one backpack for a 4th grader with the basic supplies needed for a school year, a cost many struggling families simply couldn't afford this year.

Thanks to the hundreds of supporters like you and the Volunteers of America Operation Backpack® program, thousands of homeless children returned to school with the basic supplies they need. Many of them are homeless, living in foster care, or come from families that are struggling in these difficult times but now these kids not only have new school supplies – but more importantly, a big boost in confidence to help start the new school year off on a positive note.
