Anne E. Casey/Family Counts
The Volunteers of America / Annie E. Casey Foundation is designed to recognize, encourage, and extend the influence of Volunteers of America programs that take innovative approaches to strengthening families. A grant from the Annie E. Casey Foundation provides three winning family strengthening programs each year with $20,000 to enhance and support their program models. The grant also provides resource to conduct trainings in order to allow other local offices to learn about and replicate the best practices.
Through an Annie E. Casey grant, Volunteers of America Greater New Orleans is working to change the fact that children with incarcerated parents are innocent, but they face tough challenges ― without intervention, they have a 70% chance of ending up behind bars. The Players Trust
The Major League Baseball Players Trust and Volunteers of America have worked in partnership since 2002 to benefit people in need and encourage others to get involved to help children, at-risk youth and families. The partnership has resulted in a youth volunteer initiative in which players lead local Action Teams whose mission is to inspire high school students to become volunteers in their communities. Through the Trust the players provide funding and make public appearances to raise awareness about Volunteers of America's services.
