One interesting approach is being implemented in Northern Virginia. The Bailey’s Crossroads Community Shelter in Northern Virginia operated by Volunteers of America Chesapeake, is a place where the toughest cases reside. Here, individuals gather from diverse backgrounds with some of the most serious personal issues, such as mental illness, poor physical health, and alcohol or drug addiction. All are homeless. And, all have entered the shelter willingly with one goal in mind — to reclaim and rebuild their lives.
