Long-term Care

Valley Manor Care Center has provided quality skilled nursing care to our community for many years. Our long standing reputation is an assurance that you can trust the care of your loved one to us. Our philosophy embodies dignity, quality of life, and respect for the individual. We care for our resident's physical condition and promote their spiritual, emotional, and social well-being.

When your loved one requires nursing care in a skilled setting, you must feel confident about the organization you choose to place your trust. Our commitment to quality service is evident in the smallest detail in our facility, staff, care and many programs.

Massage Therapy is provided two days a week by Darlene Fullerton, R.N., C.M.T. to help with relaxation and pain management for our residents.

Massage for the body, mind and spirit: The healing touch of massage can be a comfort during the long days spent in a long term care facility. Gentle massage can relieve pain, decrease loneliness and help decrease stress and tension.

The positive power of touch: Caring touch can have profound, positive effects on one’s mental and emotional state. Massage provides physical and mental stimulation that can relieve boredom for the mentally alert and help the disoriented reconnect with the present time and place. As one relaxes, daily frustrations can seem less overwhelming. Feeling better after a massage may also encourage a person to be more physically active and social. Nurturing touch can calm someone who is frightened, and depressed.

Our Restorative Program is designed to increase our resident’s independence through, resident focused, rehabilitation to improve skills such as speech and mobility. The restorative program includes the resident, their family and our skilled physical, occupational and speech therapy professionals. A detailed assessment is completed to determine how our restorative program can assist our residents in achieving greater independence and an improved quality of life.

There are many skills that we can help restore to our resident’s. Some of our successful programs include mobility, skin care management, swallowing techniques, functional eating skills, communication, contracture management, bowel and bladder retraining, and dressing and grooming skills.

One resident afflicted with Parkinson’s had some speech issues and was unable to communicate her needs to the staff and her family.  We used voice exercises to strengthen her voice but upon discovering her love for singing we added singing in her therapy. Now after we finish our voice exercises we turn on some 50’s and 60’s songs, that incorporate different pitch levels, and sing together.  Today she can speak loudly enough to communicate her needs greatly improving her quality of life.

The restorative program is incredibly rewarding for our residents but it is also rewarding for their families. We work with family members to help them gain confidence in assisting their loved ones.  For example, our team will teach family members how to help assist their loved one getting into a vehicle so they can go on visits and feel secure in their care for their family member.
