Alzheimer's Support Group

The Homestead at Boulder City offers an Alzheimer Support Group for those who are caregivers or have loved ones with memory loss. This is a confidential supportive group that welcomes discussion, embraces feelings and conquers fear with hope and education.

The group meets in the Fireside lounge at the Homestead on the first and third Thursday of each month at 10:00 AM.  There is no fee to attend.

Mary Shapiro, MSG, a gerontologist with over 20 years in this field will be the facilitator. Mary currently facilitates Alzheimer and Related Disorder Support Groups throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Mary also organizes and teaches many workshops, seminars, and CEU credit programs including Alzheimer Disease: Education and Training, and Aging, Dementia, and the Law. She is a teacher of one of the core courses for the Gerontology Certificate sponsored by the University of Nevada, School of Medicine.

Everyone is welcome to attend this support group. No registration required unless you need help with care for your loved one while you are in the meeting.  Please call Joyce at 702-294-8720 to make those arrangements.

Bereavement Support Group

A Bereavement Support Group is available at The Homestead for all those dealing with loss of a loved one or loss of their own abilities. The meetings will be held the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 1:00. There is no charge to attend and is open to everyone.

Reverend Judy will be assisting with the discussion to help get those that need help, back on the right path. Rev. Judy has been coaching support groups for over 16 years and is well versed in many areas. She is someone that will listen unconditionally and without passing judgment. She welcomes everyone to come and observe, after all it is not necessary to share, though there are many benefits. Talking is therapeutic, as we all know, and Rev. Judy is there to help… to help you heal yourself and to learn how to live life in a different way going forward.
