Kentucky Derby Fundraiser 2010

Join us for an afternoon at the Kentucky Derby.  This unique and fun event will provide an afternoon of entertainment and introduce you to the many programs Volunteers of America provides in Western Colorado. The derby festivities will begin at 12:00 with lunch, wine and beer tastings and music. The silent auction kicks off with the introduction of our Winners Circle Horses exhibition; these very special ceramic horses were decorated by area artists’. Our derby hats exhibit showcases the talents of our nursing home and assisted living residents. There will also be an opportunity to show off your derby finery with our best dressed contest. The event culminates with the showing of the actual Kentucky Derby race you can purchase some Volunteers of America bucks to bet on your favorite horse.  

Volunteers of America currently provides services to 1680 seniors in Montrose and Delta Counties offering programs including home health, senior meals programs, assisted living, independent housing, program of all inclusive care for the elderly, rehabilitation and long term care. Our senior meals program is currently underfunded and in dire need of community support.

All proceeds will support directly the Senior Community Meals Program, serving over 10,000 meals to seniors per month.

Volunteers of America is a national non profit faith based organization dedicated to helping those in need live healthy, safe and productive lives. Our Kentucky Derby event raised awareness of the many programs we provide in western Colorado and funds for the senior meals programs serving Montrose, Olathe, Delta, Cedaredge, Hotchkiss, Paonia, Crawford, Norwood, Nucla and the surrounding areas. Your support will help us continue this valuable program providing over 10,000 nutritious meals every month to seniors at the meal sites and to those that are homebound through the meals on wheels program.
