Can Home Health Help You?

Home Health may be appropriate for you if:

  • You don’t need extensive medical care, yet you still require nursing care for treatment or rehabilitation.
  • You need assistance with day-to-day activities such as dressing, cooking or grooming (to qualify for Home Health under Medicare, you must be confined to your home.)
  • If family and friends need help providing the care you need.

Our physical therapists specialize in fall risk identification and reduction. We focus on exercise to improve balance and maintain independence. When appropriate, we make recommendations for adaptive equipment including walkers, scooters, or wheelchairs. Our goal is to allow our clients to remain safely in their homes.

Our occupational therapist specializes in identification and modification for low vision clients. She will help our clients develop adaptive strategies for managing low vision issues and will make referrals to low vision programs when appropriate. In addition, she is able to test for and develop strategies to cope with minor cognitive or memory deficits. Occupational therapy is also able to make recommendations for home modifications to reduce the risk of falling with focus on bathroom safety.

Our speech therapists are able to identify and treat swallowing issues that put a person at risk for choking or aspiration pneumonia. In addition, they are able to work with clients to help them regain their speech after a stroke or other traumatic injury. Speech therapists can also work in conjunction with occupational therapy to identify and address cognitive or memory losses.
