| It’s in these troubled times when it seems most difficult to find something to be grateful for, that it’s most important to remember what gives our lives meaning and joy. At Eastland Care Center, the Retention and Recruitment Committee sponsors employee appreciation events throughout the year, but they know that the best rewards our employees can receive come from the happiness, friendship, and love of our residents.
The Committee decided to change it up and sponsored a resident appreciation event instead. Employees cut out leaves and wrote why they were thankful for the residents. The leaves were posted around the dining room. The event included entertainment, refreshments served by all available staff members, and a video that the employees made to thank the residents for everything that they do. The video drew tears from the residents and staff members when it was played, and the employees concluded the event by giving the residents a standing ovation. Residents tell us thank you everyday, but they do just as much for us in return. They lift our spirits and give meaning to our life’s calling. They are true heroes in humble places, and they were so glad to be reminded that they are important and loved. |
