Bethesda Senior Wellness Center partnering with the YMCA
(For Seniors 55 and over)
Mission Statement: The Bethesda Senior Wellness Center’s mission is to enhance and maintain the independence, dignity, and well-being of our community seniors by offering services to meet their present and future needs in a warm, accessible, supportive environment that involves them, within both Bethesda Care Center and our Community.
The Bethesda Senior Wellness Center features user-friendly equipment to meet your exercise needs. Daily Pass or Monthly Memberships are available.
Gym and Pool Hours
Monday-Friday: 11:30a-12:30p and 4:30p-5:30p
Chair Aerobics offered Monday and Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.
The exercises in this class emphasize flexibility, toning, and balance and are presented with variations for those with joint conditions. All exercises are done either sitting in or standing behind a chair. Intensity: Beginner-Intermediate
Instructor: Lisa Shuey who has 21 years of teaching experience with the YMCA and is certified as a YMCA Personal Trainer, YMCA Group Exercise Instructor, YMCA Cycling Instructor, YMCA Exercise Instructor Trainer, SilverSneakers® MSROM and Yoga Stretch Instructor. She is also certified through the American Red Cross in CPR/AED.
Active Older Adult Yoga offered Tuesday and Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
This class will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. All ability levels are welcome.
Instructor: Jana Martin who has 9 years of teaching experience and is the Fitness & Aquatic Director at the YMCA of Sandusky County. She is a NETA (National Exercise Trainer Association) Group Fitness Instructor, Pilates Instructor, and Personal Trainer. She is also certified through the Resist-A-Ball with a Core Level I certification and the SilverSneakers®fitness program in Yoga Stretch, MSROM, and Cardio Circuit. Jana is certified through the American Red Cross in CPR/AED.
Water Arthritis Class offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8 a.m. Duration: 45 Minutes
This joint effort between the American Arthritis Foundation and the YMCA of the USA provides a low-impact program for people with arthritis. Gentle stretching and range of movement activities will be instructed. It is not necessary to know how to swim to be a part of this class.
Instructor: Sheila Kropp who instructs a Water Arthritis and Water Aerobics class at YMCA of Sandusky County. She is certified through the Arthritis Foundation to instruct water arthritis classes and also with the American Red Cross in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED.
Boot Camp Class Offered Tuesday and Thursday at 4 p.m
This class is designed as an interval training class for individuals 18-55 years. It is a fast paced class that guides you through the most effective combination of exercise to help with weight loss, building muscle strength, endurance, flexibility, and self-confidence.
Instructor: Janelle Ray who has 7 years experience teaching classes in a variety of styles, including Step, Kick Boxing, Strength Training, Tia-Chai, BOSU, and Boot Camp. She is also certified through the American Red Cross.
