Volunteer Opportunities

Make a difference in someone's life and find out how rewarding it is. At Anoka Care Center we have many unique volunteer opportunities to fit your schedule. Please come and share your time, and your talents with us.

Rehabilitation Helper
Location:	Rehabilitation Unit
Date/Time Commitment:	Monday-Friday, 9:00am-12:00pm. Preferably 1 to 3 days per week.
Assist the Therapy Department with various duties such as: walking/following behind a patient, as he/she is at Therapy. Puting therapy supplies away. Making copies of various paperwork. Marking wheelchairs and walkers. Must enjoy helping others. Must have good people skills. Must be patient and a good listener. Must have an interest in working with older adults. Good at taking directions.

Visitor
Location:	Throughout the facility.
Date/Time Commitment:	One to 3 times a month. Preferably 1 - 2 hours per visit
Visit with a couple of residents on an individual basis - spend some time with a resident by either visiting, writing letters, cleaning out their closet, play a table game or going for walks outside. Must understand the elderly, be a good listener and be patient.

Musical Entertainer
Location:	First and second floor Dayroom.
Date/Time Commitment:	One to two times per month. Either 3:30-4:30pm or 6:30-7:30pm any day of the week
Playing your instrument in front of a small or large group of residents. Ask residents what songs they would like you to play. Perhaps once in awhile, reminiscing about a song that is played. We do have a piano on both floors.

Clerical Helper
Location:	Various Office Locations in the care center
Date/Time Commitment:	One to two times per month. Anytime during the day 9:00am - 4:30pm or evening hours, anywhere from 5:00pm - 8:00pm.
Make copies and put together admission packets, tour packets, and volunteer orientation packets. Reorganize files, various greeting cards and attendance sheets.

Pet Visitor
Location:	Throughout the facility
Date/Time Commitment:	Any day between 9:30am - 7:30pm
Come in on a regular basis with your dog or cat and visit with the residents and staff throughout the care center. Your animal must be on a leash and under your control at all times.

Eye Glass Cleaner
Location:	Throughout the facility
Date/Time Commitment:	Any day between 10:00am - 7:30pm. Preferably 3-4 times per month.
Visit with residents while cleaning their eye glasses.

Bookworm Club
Location:	1st floor Dayroom
Date/Time Commitment:	Any day of the week. Preferably 10:30 am, 3:30pm or 7:00pm 3-4 times per month.
Gather a small group of residents in the dayroom. Read a short story or poetry to them. Take the time to inspire the residents to discuss what they heard or understood.

Bible Study Leader
Location:	1st Floor Dayroom
Date/Time Commitment:	Any day of the week. Preferably either 3:30 pm or 6:30 pm. 3-4 times per month.
Gather a small group of interested residents and read scriptures and maybe a short story and discuss what you have read. This Bible Study group will be very low-keyed and simple and easy to follow along.
