Featured Program: Helping Victims of Domestic Violence in the Carolinas

Volunteers of America of the Carolinas’ Willow Pond transitional housing program in Wilmington, N.C., meets a critical community need by providing 12 apartment style units, along with intensive case management to women and their children fleeing domestic violence with no other place to go.  For up to two years, families can stay at Willow Pond to rebuild their lives — from adults taking classes and finding jobs to children being stabilized in school.  Willow Pond lets families return to being active members of their community, and then gets them placed in permanent housing.
